Versatile Blogger award

I was given this award by the lovely Lorna (thanks!) and I am now finally getting around to do it! :)

The Rules:
1. Thank and link back to the blogger who gave you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass it along to 7 blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy.
4. Leave your recipients a note, telling them about the award.

Not too sound like a rebel, but I won't be playing by the rules!  Well, not all of them anyway.  I have already taken care of number 1, I am about to do number 2, but I won't be doing 3 or 4.  Instead I invite anyone who is reading this and fancies doing it, to do it! :)

So, 7 things about me...

1.  I am a weird mix of very girly + tomboy.  I grew up as a tom boy, going to the football all       the time, wearing football tops, hanging around with the boys, playing shooting zombie computer games.  Then when I was around 18, I changed and went in the opposite direction.  Everything had to be pink or fluffy, or I just wasn't interested.  Now, at the grand old age of 27, I am somewhere in between.  I'm probably still more of a girl's girl and if you meet me I think I come across as sweet & girly, which I am, and I love all things pink & glittery, but I also still love a good game of Resident Evil on the Playstation, have 4 tattoos and I can still get down with the boys!

2.  I've had 2 significant relationships with boys.  The 1st one started when I was 18, and finished when I was 24.  In that time, we got engaged and bought a flat together.  The break up was tough with a capital T.  The next one started when I was 24 and is still going strong now.  I met him on a football bus and we were friends for a long time before we admitted we liked each other and our first kiss.  I was still recovering from my breakup when we got together which didn't make things easy but things smoothed out and we have now ended up in a rented flat together living & working in Edinburgh of all places!

3.  I kinda wish I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.  My current plans are to keep on working away in a job that I don't hate, hopefully make decent money and move back to Glasgow.  I'd like to stay with bf (and maybe even get married!).  I'd love to live in London or Manchester too but if that doesn't happen I won't be devastated and I'll be happy with little holidays there.  My job is ok but it's not my ideal job.  If I knew what my ideal job was I would go out and get it!  I would study again and get the qualifications I need.  But I've no idea what that is so I can't.

4.  I have one younger brother.  He is 2 & a half years younger than me so not too much of a difference, but we are just not close at all.  We don't fight or anything, but we are quite distant.  I don't really know why, and it's a shame, but it's hard to do anything about it.  Really my whole immediate family is a mess!  And I'm usually glad to be out of the way in Edinburgh and away from the chaos.

5.  I LVE TV & films.  My bf loves his TV too, we're such lovers of TV that our 2 bedroomed flat has 3 TV sets, 2 Virgin + boxes and one normal Virgin box!  So that's one with V+ in the living room, one with V+ in the spare room, and one with a normal Virgin box in the bedroom!  So we can watch whatever we like, whenever we like, and watch different stuff at the same time if we want!  I've got hundreds of DVD's, and always got loads of films taped on my V+.  We both also have Cineworld cares, you know the ones you pay monthly and then can go to the cinema as much as you like?  Yeah :)

6.  I can't drive but I would like to.  Every year I say I am going to learn, but still have not started!

7.  And finally, sometimes, when I'm on the move, listening to my iPod, I pretend that I'm in a film, and the music that I hear from my iPod, is that music in the film, the soundtrack as I am walking around, being in the film!  Daft, eh? :) xx

I Like That

I'm having a lazy Sunday!  Have spent the morning lying in bed with bf catching up on the soaps we missed during the week.  Have now had a shower and am sitting on the couch watching Doctor Who while he watches the football.

On Friday night I went to Glasgow for dinner with a couple of girls from work.  Yesterday me & bf went to the cinema to see Paul (loved it, really funny) and then for dinner at Zizzi's.  We then came home and watched a dvd of Sweet Sixteen, then had an early night :)

As I say, quiet one today then back to work tomorrow.  I have to be in work for 08:30 then I'm getting the 15:00 train to Aberdeen.  Staying overnight there (in the Hilton, woop woop) and then got stuff in Aberdeen on Tuesday morning.  Travelling back to Edinburgh in the car after that.  Bit fed up with work just now so hopefully a wee trip to Aberdeen will cheer things up a bit!

I get paid roundabout a week from today.  I can't wait, as I have been lusting after some lovely stuff from the flat, most of it from BHS!  I don't often buy stuff from or venture in to BHS, but I wandered in the other day and found some gorgeous stuff...

"Pixie" bedding set

"Bird & Blossom" bedding set

"Overlapping Hearts" cushion

"Word" cushion

"Birds Line" cushion

"Owl" cushion

"Butterfly Appliqué" cushion

"Lyla" cushion

Kirstie Allsop "Adore" cushion

There is also a lovely little kitchen roll holder which I seen the shop but can't find on the website.  It's kind of cream coloured and has a little bird on it :) can't wait to buy some of this stuff, especially the cushions! xx

Cocktails & Conversations.... Music & Making Love

Hi :) so, we've moved.  I now live on Leith Walk, in a top floor flat.  I love it.  It is an old tenement flat with wooden floors & high ceilings.  Bf wasn't too keen to start off with but he's feeling more settled now.  It's not perfect but I like it.  The plan is eventually to move back to Glasgow and to be honest I can't wait until then.  No idea when that will be though.

I've applied for promotion at work.  Not very positive about the whole thing though.

In more exciting news........... at our Valentine's Day dinner the other night, there was talk of marriage :) we've never really talked about it before.  Bf knows I am not bothered about religion at all and even have a bit of a dislike for it.  I was talking about church weddings and how boring they were, and he said "would you marry me in a church wedding?" and I said yes and he said he still believed in them, and that he wanted to be with me forever and he hoped I knew that meant that I wouldn't be waiting forever for him to propose, but that he didn't want to rush it because he wanted it to be amazing when he asked me :) :) :) :) :) xx

Happy New Year :)

Hope you all had a good one :) I did, and I had a good new year's day although today I have been in a bit of a mood!

During the day on Friday I met my friends and then that night I spent Hogmanay (as it's called in Scotland) at bf's parent's house with them & him.  It was a nice little quiet one and I toasted the bells with raspberry vodka & lemonade, and kisses & hugs.  We had planned on new year's day to go to my aunt's as we usually do for a nice big dinner, but unfortunately she is ill with the flu!  So instead we went to my other aunt's, which was just as good.  Although there was less drinking involved than there usually is at my other aunt's!  Bf stayed at my mum & dad's house with me last night, which was great until we had a little "hiccup" which has left me in a mood today.  Everything is fine I just find it hard to get out of my little moods.  Something I should work on in 2011!

Anyway, he was at the football today and I had plans to hit the sales!  Which I did :) I got in to Glasgow pretty early and it was quiet (for a change) so I had the luxury of being able to look round Primark and being able to actually move without having to barge past loads of people!  I bought a few things in there, then headed to H&M, and Boots.  I went to a lot of shops in between but those 3 are the only ones I bought from.  Oh and I finally managed to get myself a bottle green coat that I liked :) this winter I have been living in my green Parka which is great, but I also wanted something a little smarter.

I will be in my parent's house on my own tonight as they are away and my brother has been kicked out, eeeeek.  I think I will spend tonight painting my nails.  I was going to have a bath but not sure if I can be bothered :-/

Tomorrow is my family birthday tea.  My birthday is actually on Wednesday but I will be back in Edinburgh by then so we're doing it tomorrow :) then on Tuesday me & bf will head back to Edinburgh, I am going to the cinema with a friend that night and then it's my birthday! :) and back to work on Thursday.

xx

Boo hoo

I feeling a bit sorry for myself :( stupid I know but I can't help it.

Yesterday was my work Christmas night out.  I had a great time during the day - me & my manager went out for our own wee Christmas lunch to Pizza Express (oh the glamour!) and had a few drinks and a great laugh.  After that we went down to the bar at work to watch Come Dine With Me.  Now, I know that might sound weird but CDWM was in Edinburgh this week, and one of the guys works in the building I work in, and a crowd went down to the bar to watch the final episode, which was also his night.  It was good fun.  Then we headed up the Royal Mile to a fancy little cocktail bar called Monteith's, which is really nice with lots of fairy lights.  My friend met us there, then we went to a dodgy bar which I hated!  We were only there for one though, and then headed to the hotel which our dinner was.  I was a bit tipsy by then and having a good time.

Then it all started to go wrong.

Nothing really happened I just stopped having a good time and I wasn't having a laugh and kind of felt like I didn't fit in.  I moved to Edinburgh properly about a year ago and I feel it's been difficult to make proper friends here.  I have made a few I would say but not enough to make me happy :-/

I have my friend S who is a lovely guy but sometimes he's hard work.  He can be veeeeeeeeeeery quiet and I feel like I have to make all the conversation, and then if I stop doing that, he won't start and will just stay quiet and I feel awkward :( I also have my friend (another S) who moved from Glasgow to live with her bf and is one of my proper friends from home, but now when I meet her in Edinburgh I feel bored because all she does is moan about bf and all their troubles.  But, then I think "is the common denominator, me?"  I have to have some part in it, right?  So that makes me feel shit.

I miss my friends from home and how easy it is to be with them.  I told my bf about this last night and his suggestion was to arrange to meet my friends tomorrow in Glasgow for lunch which I have arranged.  I don't do this that much coz it costs to get here and back but I feel I need it.

The other thing is...... I seen pictures of me from last night and I look so fat in every picture :( shallow I know :(

I know this is (hopefully) just a phase I am going through like we all do from time to time xx

Jingle Bells!

Hey hey hey :) I'm so excited it's getting so close to Christmas :-D

Not last weekend but the weekend before, I went to Glasgow from Friday til Sunday.  Friday was a quiet day at work, so I travelled in the morning from Edinburgh to our Glasgow office, and worked there for the day.  I took a loooooooong lunch, during which I met my friend for a munch and then left her and went shopping!  I have an obsession with nail polish, and as I had bare nails that day and didn't bring any through with me to Glasgow, felt that I Had to buy some.  Have you seen the new Accessorize make up?  Well I'm not sure about the rest of it but the nail polishes are lovely.  I bought 4 of them, and also a Barry M - Dusky Mauve and bottom/top coat.  I bought Accessorize Molten Copper-

Mermaid

Pink Spice

and.... Idol

I am absolutely loving them.  I'm loving Barry M's Dusky Mauve too but I'm sure you've already seen that.

I was going out on Friday night but unfortunately I had to stay in the office til 5pm.  The good thing about that though, was that mostly everyone left around 4pm, leaving me to sneakily paint my nails in the office while it was quiet! ;) I went out with my friends that night and had a great time.

On the Saturday, I started my Christmas shopping.  I got my mum & dad's from Molton Brown, and got bf's from Hugo Boss.  I then met my friends again for a couple of drinks but headed home after a couple with my heavy bags.  That night I started to feel ill, and by the time Sunday came round I was dying with the worst cold ever!  My Nana came to collect me and we went to my Aunt's birthday tea.  I was due to go n see Frankie Boyle with my friend that night but I gave it a miss as I felt so ill.  I got the train back to Edinburgh and my lovely friend Steven came and picked me up at the station and dropped me off at my flat :)

I was off work til Thursday and ended up going to the doctor where I was told the cold had brought my asthma back and so I now have an inhaler for the next wee while!

Me & bf took a half day on Friday there and went to Glasgow.  The weather was bad but we got through fine.  We had dinner at his parent's house and stayed over.  On Saturday I got my hair done, then me & bf went to the cinema & for dinner.  Stayed over at his parent's again on Saturday night then went home to Edinburgh on Sunday.  Lucky we left early coz after that the weather went mental!

And so now I am in the middle of another boring week at work!  It has been quiet due to the weather, which means I've had the chance to get right in to my Christmas shopping :) still got quite a bit to go though.  Can't wait to get it finished :) xx

PS.  I think I may have repeated myself in this post and the one before that, but hey! :) x

Let it snow!

Oh it's so beautiful outside, it won't stop snowing :) it's getting heavier & heavier as I type, I love it :)

Last week was a bit of a nightmare.  On Wednesday I had to be in the office for 07:30am...... uuuuuuuggggghhh!  I made it though!  Then I was in for a long, tough day at work.  Went to sleep about 11:30pm, and was woken at 12:30am but the people downstairs having a party :( then I was up til 5am because of them!  They didn't quieten down til we got the police out.  They are generally noisy & annoying but this was just taking the piss.  Bf went down to see them the next day and they said they were sorry, didn't realise they were so loud, blah blah blah.  I was away most of the weekend but last night one of them came to the door to say that they had people over (10 people) and that they were meant to leave yesterday morning, but because of the snow their flight back to Poland was cancelled and so they are here for another week.  I don't believe there ever was a flight they were meant to catch and I suspect that they all here looking for work.  I don't know about in other parts of the country, but in Edinburgh, when you have Polish people in a flat, there always seems to be about 10-12 of them in 1 or 2 bedroomed flats.  Well I hope they all get jobs and move out or go back to Poland soon coz they are doing my nut in.

So anyway I was in a terrible mood all of Thursday because of lack of sleep, and another tough day at work.

Friday was great.  I worked in Glasgow, I started late, met my friend for lunch, bought new nail varnish... managed to paint my nails in work when it got quiet, shhhhhhh!  After work I met my friends in the pub and had a nice night :) stayed in Glasgow all weekend.  On Saturday I had a lie in then spent some time with my mum & dad.  My mum has an amazing jewellery collection and managed to get her to part with some of for me ;) then I went Christmas shopping (Hugo Boss for bf and Molton Brown for mum & dad), and met my friends in the pub.  Only stayed out for 2 or 3 drinks.  They were having an all-dayer and I just wasn't in the mood.  Went home, had a nice bath and watched X Factor.  Yesterday I stayed in bed most of the day then went to my aunt Ann's for her birthday tea.

The only bad thing about the weekend was that I developed the cold from hell :( it started on Saturday night, and it was the reason I stayed in bed most of Sunday.  I was meant to be going to see Frankie Boyle last night in Glasgow with my friend, then getting the last train back to Edinburgh, but I felt too ill and so I cancelled.  I got the train back to Edinburgh and my lovely friend Steven came and picked me up at Waverley and dropped me off at my flat :) I am a 15/20 min walk from the station, but it was too dodgy to walk it and the taxi queue was massive, and also I was dying with the cold by that point so he was a total life saver.

Me & bf were meant to be going to the cinema & stuff today but I just don't feel up to it :( I feel bad coz bf was really looking forward to it :( I was too though.  We are meant to be off today but he has had to nip in to work for a while and I have asked him to come back with medicine & hankies for my cold!

Hope you are all enjoying the snow! :) xx

If the sun or the moon would give way to doubt, they would immediately go out

Heeeeeeeeey :)

I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time today.  I usually get them waxed but I've wanted to try threading for a while.  A colleague recommended that I just have a look in the windows of the little Indian fabric shops at the top of Leith Walk, and that they would probably have signs in the window advertising threading.  I was a bit scared at the thought because I'm always a bit hesitant when trying new eyebrow places.  I've had an eyebrow disaster once and it's sooooo bad coz it's right on your face and you can hardly do anything about it!  Anyway, I was brave and decided to go for it.  I'm a bit more handy with an eyebrow pencil these days and thought if it was messed up at least I could save it a bit.

So the first fabric shop on Leith Walk had a little sign outside advertising beauty treatments, including eyebrow threading so I hopped in.  The woman behind the counter said it cost a fiver and said to go through the back and I'd probably have to wait 10 mins.  I went through and there was a small room, with 2 big chairs in front of mirrors, a treatments bed and a few chairs for people to sit and wait on.  There was 2 women working, and the waiting chairs were full so one of them told me to sit on the bed, so I did.  I'd been sitting there a good few minutes when I realised there was a tiny baby just lying on the end of the bed!  Bit surprising but hey ho.  The baby started to cry and another lady came and took it away.

Eventually........... it was my turn!  I'd heard that sometimes you have to hold your eyebrow up for them, so I said to the woman that it was my first time so she knew to tell me to do stuff.  I didn't have to hold my eyebrow up but I did have to hold it down at one point.  I must say, it was sore!!!  But in a few minutes it was   over and I handed over my fiver.  After that I was straight on the bus to Asda which took ages, and so it was a while before I actually got a chance to look at my eyebrows properly and see if I liked them.  I did look in the mirror in the shop but my brows were all red so I couldn't really tell.  When I got there they had calmed down and I was really happy with them :) they are a nice shape and look more even than they usually do.  Plus, it was only £5!  I usually pay between £10-£15 for waxing.  I'll definitely be back there, and hopefully it won't be as sore next time!

In other news, I had a busy weekend last week.  On the Friday night I went to my friend Steven's flatwarming/birthday party.  It was good and a met a few nice new people.  On the Saturday, me & bf went to Glasgow.  When we got there, he met his sister for lunch and I met my friend.  We had lunch then took a walk along to Sloane's market - http://www.sloansglasgow.com/market which sells some lovely little things, and I bought 2 rings and a necklace.  Then my other friend came along and we went to the pub, and bf met us there later.  Me & bf had to leave eventually as we were going to my uncle's 50th.  All of my family went for dinner.  We had a private room in a local pub and it was lovely.  After the meal, most people went home but me, bf, my aunt & uncle stayed til closing time and had a great time!  There was a singer, and usually I hate live music, but I really enjoyed her singing.  She was a great singer, sang great songs and also had a laugh with the crowd.  She did little dances, and was even up dancing on a chair at one point.  Also there was people up dancing the whole night, and dancing on tables!  Great fun :)

On to this weekend :) last night we went to see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows :-D I looooooooooved it :) I want to see it again.  Today I got my eyebrows threaded, as I mentioned above, also got a little bit of shopping in ;) tonight me & bf are having a "bed night" which is when we got to bed really early and just watch tv, eat sweets & cuddle etc :) might sound silly but we love it ha ha :) xx

Long weekend

I finished work on Friday and headed home to wait for my boyfriend to finish so that we could head to Glasgow.  We were staying with my mum & dad for 2 nights, then with his for one, and we'd taken Monday off.  While I was waiting for him I packed my bag and managed to find the time to paint my nails.

Once we got to my mum & dad's we had  a takeaway with my mum - Indian.  My dad was out but my brother was in and he had some too.  The next day we went for a Wimpey, yay!!!!  Then off to visit my Nana before she went on her trip to Rome.  After that I had my hair cut & coloured.  It's much darker than before and is still quite long but now has MILLIONS of layers in it.  I was fed up with it and said to my hairdresser to just go for it, and do whatever she liked.  I like it but I'm still getting used to it.  Wish my fringe was just a little bit longer!  That night we went out for dinner with my mum, dad & brother.  It wasn't great because to be honest I'm not too keen on spending time with those 3!  I can't really explain it but I can't handle being with them for too long and I don't enjoy it and it makes me feel really bad :-/ anyway....... the next day I met 2 of my friends & one of their boyfriends for lunch.  Was great to see them.  Then I headed to bf's mum & dad's where he was waiting.  Spent the night there and then we went to the cinema in Glasgow yesterday.  Seen 2 films with a Pizza Hut in between :) we used to always go to this cinema in Glasgow and loved it.  Obviously don't get to go to that one as much now we're in Edinburgh.  We seen Wall Street and Mr Nice.  Wall Street was one of the most boring films I've ever seen.  As you may already know, the first Wall Street film was in the 80's.  I've never seen it but my bf wanted to go n see the new one, so I managed to catch the first one on Sky Movies.  Hated it!  Thought the new one would be better though, but honestly I sat trying to see my watch in the dark for most of the time.  Mr Nice was pretty good, but was far too long!

Back to work and back to reality today!  Work was really quiet, which might sound good but it meant that the day dragged.

I'm catching up with The Only Way Is Essex.  I know they're really tacky etc... but I love how they all go to all this effort to look "good" every day :) although I wouldn't like to look like them, I wish I could make the time every day to look my best!  I do try but there's some days where I just can't be bothered or sleep in.

Bf is out tonight for a few drinks.  He is the one out of us that cooks.  I can't cook to save myself and so since he is out I've had a Pot Noodle for dinner!  Chinese Chow Mein, wasn't too bad, first time I've tried it ha ha :) xx

The evening after the night before...

Well last night was ok.  I spent ages getting ready and was really happy with how I looked.  I wore a little black skirt with small white hearts on it.  It is short and quite tight but has a little frilly bit just above the bum.  Maybe sounds weird but I promise it's nice!  I also wore a loose black top with black crystals stitched around the front tucked in to the skirt, with black tights and chunky boots with chunky heels, which were black with gold buckles & studs.  I was really happy with my make up.  I normally wear Benefit's Eye Bright on my water line which is a really light pink, almost white and really opens up my eyes.  Occasionally I will swap to Urban Decay's Electric 24/7 liner which is a turquoise colour, but that's generally as far as I go with eye liner.  But, the other day I bought a GOSH eye liner from Superdrug.  I think it's maybe called Dove Grey.  I still wore my Eye Bright on my water line but I went for the GOSH line on my top eye lid and I even attempted a sexy little flick!  Which I think was pretty successful.  On my hair I used a volumising mousse by Aussie, and blow dried it with a large round brush so it was nice and big.  Pinned my fringe to the sides and sprayed with Aussie hair spray.  It was the first time I used both those Aussie products and I must say I was impressed!

We went to Jamie's Italian, which is an Italian restaurant (duh?) on George Square in Glasgow.  Oh and it is owned by Jamie Oliver.  It was lovely but I don't think it was anything special and I wouldn't be back in a hurry.  After that we headed to The Corinthian which is a pub/club.  Looks lovely but was FULL of posers in suits.  Old sleazy guys and young sleazy guys that think they're something else.  Wasn't in there long.

Also yesterday, before I started to get ready I headed to Princes Street to see if I could find something new to wear.  I couldn't, but I popped in to Lush as I'd heard that none other than the best shower gel ever; Snow Fairy, was back out for Christmas, and the rumours were true :-D the Lush on Princes Street was actually having a Snow Fairy party, so all the staff were in pink and I was given a cup of pink Cherryade and a pink wafer!  I got a bit carried away and also picked up the Snow Fairy lip tint which is an amazing hot pink colour and of course has that beautiful Snow Fairy scent, which even my boyfriend loves!  I don't have to worry about him stealing my shower gel though.... due to the glitter! :)

Well, I'm away for now because I'm going to bed with a boyfriend and a tin of chocolates! ;) xx

My first kiss went a little like this...!

Hi!  This isn't my first blog but I'm hoping it'll be the last one.  I always love them at the start then get bored but I aim to keep this one up.  I won't be writing about anything in particular, just whatever I feel like at the time.

I love reading other people's blogs and I hope mine is interesting to a few as well.

As you can see from my profile I'm 26 (eeek!) and I live in Edinburgh.  I'm not from here but me & my boyfriend both moved from work.  I live with him in our rented flat along with our 5 fish; Leon, Sacha, Malcolm Tucker, Snape & Sirius.  I'd love a kitten but we're not allowed them in the flat.  Plus I think it would be a little bit cruel coz we work long hours and it would be on it's own a lot and it wouldn't be easy to let it out so that's kinda a no.

I'm originally from Glasgow and I miss it and my friends and my social life... but not really missing my family!  Enjoying the peace from them.  I also miss my cat!

Today I'm going shopping (soon) and then I'm getting ready to go to Glasgow to meet my friends for dinner & cocktails! ;) not decided if I will stay over with someone or make the trek back to Edinburgh, we will see! xx
